Never touched your Google listing? That's most people. This
page explains the whole program in plain words, then points you at the one
thing to fix first.

In plain words
A free checkup scores your Google listing from 0 to 100.
Six things make up the score. None cost money to fix.
Fix one thing. Come back next month.

Tap the button, then paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. It becomes your coach for this one fix.
You're a patient, friendly coach helping a small business owner show
up on Google for the first time. Talk to me like I'm brand new to this.
Give me one short step at a time, and wait for me to say "done" before
the next one.
First, ask me two questions and wait for my answers: (1) What's my
business called, and what does it do? (2) Is something specific already
bugging me, like a wrong phone number or an old photo, or am I starting
from zero?
Then explain, in two or three sentences, what a Google Business
Profile is (the box with my hours, phone, and map pin that shows up when
someone searches for me) and why it matters more than a fancy website.
Then give me the 3 things to do this week, in order, with the exact taps.
On a phone: open the Google Maps app, tap my profile picture, tap "Your
Business Profile." On a computer: search my business name on Google and
use the "Your business on Google" panel. Basics first (phone, address,
hours), then photos, then reviews. Last, set me a routine: ten minutes on
the first of every month to look at my listing like a customer.
Ground rule: only advice that follows Google's rules for Business
Profiles. Never suggest a discount, a raffle, a gift, or any payment in
exchange for a review. Never suggest a second listing. If I ask about
something that isn't allowed, tell me plainly and give me the version
that is.
Your EDC built a free checkup for local
businesses. You type your business name. It looks at your Google listing the
way a customer does, then hands back a score and a short list of what to
fix. No cost, no password, nothing to install. And you're not alone: a coach
from Your EDC walks businesses in
your area through the fixes, free.
Do this now: run the checkup once before you read anything else. It takes
about a minute.
What your score means
Your score is a number from 0 to 100. Think of it as a report card for
how your business looks on Google. It adds up six things:
The basics. Phone, address, and hours, correct and
complete.
Photos. Real, recent pictures of your place and what you
sell.
Reviews. How many you have, and your star rating.
Activity. Whether your listing looks alive, with a recent post
or update.
Services. What you sell or do, written out as real words: brake
job, quinceañera cake, fade and beard trim.
Website. Whether you have one, and whether it works.
Higher score, more customers finding you before the shop down the
street. Do this: find your lowest area on the report. That's where the easy
points are.
A low score isn't a judgment. It's a map.
Most businesses that have never touched their Google listing score in the
30s and 40s. That's normal, not embarrassing. The score just shows you where
the quick wins are.
What happens when you run the checkup
Type your business name. Use the search box on the home page.
If your name is common, add your city.
Pick your business from the list. It comes straight from
Google, so it should look familiar: same name, same address.
Wait about half a minute. The checkup reads your live Google
listing and, if you have one, your website. Only public information, the
same things any customer can already see.
See your score. It shows up as a ring with a number inside. No
account, no password, no charge.
Below the ring: how you compare to similar businesses near you, a
breakdown of the six areas, and a list called "Fix these first."
Do this: scroll straight to that list.
What "Fix these first" means
Not every fix is worth the same. A missing phone number costs you more
points than an old holiday note. "Fix these first" sorts your list by
points, biggest first. If you only have twenty minutes this week, you spend
them on the thing that moves your score the most.
Do this: read the top item on your list. That's your whole job this
week.
You don't have to fix everything today.
Pick one item from "Fix these first," do it, and come back next month to
run the checkup again. Most businesses get to a strong score over a few
short sessions, not one long one.
¿Nunca has tocado tu ficha de Google?

Ninguna cuesta dinero arreglarla.
Arregla una cosa. Regresa el próximo mes.
✦¿No quieres leer?
Y no estás
novedad reciente.
Servicios. Qué vendes o haces, escrito con palabras reales:
cambio de frenos, pastel de quinceañera, corte y arreglo de barba.
Sitio web.
Cosas forman tu Get Found Score. Ninguna cuesta dinero para empezar a arreglarla.
